Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers, was born on August 8, 1989, in Paris. When she was just five, she moved to Oxfordshire and attended the Dragon School. Emma's ambition was to become an actor. At the age of six, she joined the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch, where she took classes for acting, singing and dance. At the age of 10, she was performing and taking the lead in various Stagecoach productions as well as school plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the 2001 film adaptation of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British book began in 1999. Casting agents found Emma through her Oxford theatre instructor. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint after 8 auditions. They were chosen to play three leads Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. Emma's first screen appearance came with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's premiere in 2001. The film beat all previous records on opening day and weekend sales, and it was the top-grossing 2001 film. Reviewers were awed by the movie and its performances. The Daily Telegraph praised Emma for her outstanding performance. Emma's performance was nominated and was awarded five awards for the film.
