Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig September 21 1983) is an American actress who is best well-known for her role as Shannon Rutherford on the ABC television series Lost and Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. After her parents divorced, she relocated with her mother into Los Angeles. They were struggling to make ends meet and was offered her first acting role in the film Rachel's Room's leading character. Following her win of an Young Artist Award in 2002 for her performance as Murder In Greenwich of a 15-year old Martha Moxley as a murder victim, Grace went on to take home the award. In 2004, Grace was cast as Shannon Rutherford in the television series Lost on which she was the main actor for the first two seasons, and was awarded an Screen Actors Guild Award shared with the cast of the ensemble. Grace decided to leave the show in order to concentrate on her acting career. The actress had been on the show with Tom Welling opposite in The Fog earlier in the year 2005. She starred in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club in 2007 as well as Taken (2008) with Liam Neeson. Taken 2 (2012), Taken 3 2014 and Taken 4 (2014) were her reprises of these role. Grace played Shannon on the finale and in two additional episodes. Grace appeared on Californication's 6th season that aired between 2013 and the year 2014. Her acting career started as a teenager as she was cast in minor role in films made from her father. She also worked with her brother in 2001's famous film Donnie Darko. Her next appearance was in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind as well as Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal has received critical praise for her performances as the lead in Secretary (2002 an erotic romantic drama), and Sherrybaby (606) Both of which garnered their Golden Globe Award nods. In the wake of several successful commercial films in 2006 including World Trade Center she received greater recognition for her performance as Rachel Dawes in the superhero film The Dark Knight (2008). Other roles she has played included Secret Service agents in White House Down (2013 Action thriller) and musicians in Frank (2014, drama The Kindergarten Teacher 2018) in addition to the role of the Kindergarten teacher. Gyllenhaal debuted as a director and writer in 2021, with her psychological drama The Lost Daughter. For the film, she won with the Best Screenplay Award at the Venice International Film Festival and received nominations for the Academy Award.
